G-Pat (Global Patent: CH, DE, FR, and GB)

EPO ’ s GLOBALPat is derived from the First Page Data Base (FPDB) and is produced in cooperation with WIPO. Documents (US, WO, EP, GB, DE, FR and CH) are presented as bibliographic text, including title and abstract, and, where appropriate, the image of a representative drawing. The FPDB contains a single, representative member of almost every patent family (96% coverage for the backfile), so called “ basic patent. ”

WIPS provides only 4 documents (GB, DE, FR and CH) among all 7 of them (that is, except US, WO and EP data serviced in separate sections) in this GLOBALPat section.

Since GLOBALPat shows the “ basic patents, ” there might be differences in terms of the number of results with the number of patent application publications in each country.

  • Unlike other countries’ data, CN data’s supply is somewhat unstable and can be lower in quality.
  • CN data has a unique sequential data processing, which in some cases cannot offer all fields at once but updates them sequentially.
